Job Description
Job Title: Family Nurse Practitioner – Float (Primary Care / Outpatient Clinic)
Family Nurse Practitioner Location: Gainesville, FL 32606 (Float coverage also required in Macclenny, FL)
Family Nurse Practitioner Pay Rate: $74.87/hour
Hours: 30–38 hours per week (variable schedule)
Family Nurse Practitioner Schedule:
2–3 weekdays per week plus rotating weekend coverage (Saturday/Sunday required). Weekend shifts may include 6–12 hour rotations. Holiday rotation may be required.
Family Nurse Practitioner Position Overview
A healthcare organization is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide evidence-based primary and family care in an outpatient clinical setting. This role is part of a collaborative care team focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across a diverse patient population.
This is a float position requiring coverage across multiple clinic locations, primarily Gainesville and Macclenny, FL.
Family Nurse Practitioner Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary and family care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions
- Conduct routine physical exams and diagnostic evaluations
- Develop and implement treatment and care plans
- Provide patient education on preventive care, wellness, and chronic disease management
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
- Perform basic clinic administrative duties including documentation, patient follow-up, and workflow support
- Maintain accurate medical records using electronic medical systems
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, quality standards, and patient safety requirements
- Support clinic operations including patient flow and general clinical support tasks
Family Nurse Practitioner Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program
- Active RN and APRN license in the state of Florida (in good standing)
- National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Minimum of 1 year recent experience in primary care, family practice, or urgent care as an NP
- Active BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required prior to start
- DEA registration required during onboarding
- Experience managing chronic disease conditions in a primary care setting
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong communication, organization, and independent decision-making skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based clinical environment
- Willingness to obtain additional licensure if required for multi-site coverage
