Pay Rate: $31.80/hour
Shift: 3rd Shift - 10:45 PM to 7:15 AM

Location: Canaan CT 06018
Position: Contract to Hire

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Flexographic Printing Press Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will operate flexographic printing equipment to manufacture high-quality graphics on paper and film substrates for medical device packaging. The role involves minimizing waste, maintaining budgeted throughput rates, and ensuring that all production meets required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up printing press components and ensure the proper functioning of equipment.
  • Check the quality and accuracy of printing mats and ensure proper alignment.
  • Inspect raw materials, such as web stock and ink, to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Operate the printing press and perform quality checks to produce top-quality products.
  • Perform cleanup, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on printing and slitting equipment.
  • Assist in major repairs with the Tool Room or Maintenance team.
  • Monitor inventory of printing inks, printing mats, and paper stock.
  • Manage scheduling of materials to ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts to ensure quick changes during press operation.
  • Ensure the work area is clean and adheres to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements.
  • Report any safety hazards immediately to supervision.
  • Document production and waste according to company standards.
  • Maintain quality assurance and complete necessary inspection sheets.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Safely handle materials using appropriate lifting equipment and perform daily safety checks on powered equipment.
  • Comply with local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow all quality standards and apply sound Quality Assurance principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Prior experience as a printing press operator, particularly in flexographic printing, is required.
  • Skills: Knowledge of printing press operations, quality control, and basic equipment maintenance is essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift materials and equipment safely as required for production.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
