Title: API Platform Engineer

Location: Work from Home

The API Platform Engineer is responsible for the design of comprehensive server application solutions to meet business needs. This includes working independently, within Information Services (IS), with the business side and as a consultant to project teams to assure appropriate and effective use of server applications in support of IS and business goals. The API Platform Engineer will assure due consideration is given to the development of operational procedures, processes, and support materials to assure desired changes. They will offer additional technology leadership opportunities in the form of coordination of collaborative technical activities, such as system maintenance weekends or general after-hours work, targeted technology research, and development (R & D) of emerging system application technologies and expanded technical mentoring of junior staff. Essential functions include:

  • Building solutions consistent with approved designs, testing, and delivering to Production
  • Developing technical approaches to solutions based upon available designs; recommending new designs, as needed
  • Developing designs and supporting procedures and other materials to achieve required service levels
  • Integrating component designs in response to customer requirements
  • Developing, maintaining, and communicating component inventories that identify targets for operational procedures
  • Executing operational maintenance in according with established procedures; assessing component builds for completeness, correctness, and suitability to purpose
  • Resolving incidents in accordance with best practices and established procedures
  • Providing next-level support for systems and solutions; working with vendor support to resolve issues, as needed
  • Assessing support incidents and initiating appropriate design changes, as needed
  • Identifying and recommending solutions for systemic production problems
  • Working in compliance with approved standards and best practices
  • Designing, developing, and implementing monitoring systems and protocols to capture service level outcomes
  • Providing resources, time and cost estimates for provisioning, and operations and technical support
  • Providing feedback on the provisional, operational, and support effectiveness of designs and team methodologies
  • Identifying and defining processes, artifacts, and methods for provisional, operational and support proficiency, growth, and mentoring; assessing activity and outputs for conformance with defined provisional, operational and support proficiency, growth, and mentoring
  • Conducting targeted technology and methodology R & D
  • Mentoring junior staff for provisional, operational and support technical proficiency, and growth

Position Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of relevant, full-time experience in an enterprise Information Services environment
  • Strong experience in Windows Server Administration (troubleshooting, updating, scripting, scheduled tasks)
  • Expertise with IBM-MQ
  • Expertise in Change Control processes
  • Experience in Powershell scripting (creating, editing, troubleshooting)
  • Experience in Microsoft SQL Databases and Replication
  • Experience with MSSMS queries
  • Experience with Rundeck
  • Expose to SNOW and/or SAFe
  • Experience in 3rd party application support
  • Extensive troubleshooting and resolution skills in at least, Windows Servers, Powershell, IBM-MQ, SQL, API Backend application, Rundeck, Microsoft DB SQL Replication, SSO, VIP, Load Balancer, IIS
  • Experience in troubleshooting Windows and/or Linux, server and/or software administration, Windows Server 2008R2 and/or Linux/UNIX, creating batch, Visual Basic, or other forms of scripting, or broad experience in Active Directory and Citrix Metaframe preferred
  • Experience with vendor applications, including Facets, Lawson, CCMS, TM1, Onbase, Websphere, Business Objects, Apache, Sitcore, Squid, Glassfish, Google search appliances, and/or Impact Pro preferred
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent technical education in Computer Science or other related field required; Master’s Degree and/or SSL Certificate expertise in Windows or in 3rd party applications preferred
