Sales Tax Accountant Compensation
- The pay for this position is $36.11 per hour.
- Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment.
A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates.
Sales Tax Accountant Highlights
- This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs.
- The required availability for this position is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (onsite 4 days per week beginning January 1, 2025).
Sales Tax Accountant Responsibilities
- Compile source data for sales/use and property tax returns; reconcile to the general ledger for multiple entities across the U.S. and Canada.
- Review compliance payments and reconcile payable accounts to ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Prepare and file compliance returns including business licenses, gross receipts, personal property, and Puerto Rico withholding.
- Review third-party prepared tax returns for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with administrative policies, state regulations, and accounting standards.
- Assist with sales tax audits, data requests, and appeals.
- Research tax positions and maintain exemption certificate documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients by responding promptly to tax inquiries.
- Identify and implement process improvements and maintain detailed procedural documentation.
Sales Tax Accountant Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience
- Minimum 1 year of Sales and Use Tax experience across multiple states
- Knowledge of SOX controls, GAAP compliance, and indirect tax regulations
- Strong Excel skills (VLookUp, Pivot Tables, Charts)
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP/JDE) and Tax Software (OneSource, Sabrix, or Vertex)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Attendance is mandatory for the first 90 days
Sales Tax Accountant Preferred Qualifications
- Business Intelligence or Business Warehouse experience
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organization skills
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
