Job Title: Acute Dialysis RN

Location: Pontiac MI 48341 

Hours 7:00am – 7:00pm or 10:00am – 8:30pm

Shifts: 4 days a week

Pay: $60.00 -$63.00 per hour

Scheduled Pay: Weekly

Dialysis RN Duties

• Provides dialysis treatments to critical care patients in the ICU, PACU, ED and other acute hospital settings.
• Utilizes critical thinking skills and facility protocols while independently managing the often-unstable hemodynamic status of patients undergoing acute hemodialysis. Using nursing process and critical thinking skills, observes and assesses inpatient dialysis patients on an ongoing basis, adjusting dialysis therapy to meet patient-specific needs.
• Collaboratively works with key members of the inpatient acute teams including nephrologists, fellows, residents, hospital nursing and other hospital staff (e.g. social work, physical therapy) regarding plan of care and patient's response to dialysis treatments.
• Using nephrology nursing expertise assists the inpatient acute care team with triage of patients to ensure patient safety and effective clinical outcomes.
• Serves as expert resource for dialysis related care management.
• Works with the acute care team to manage multiple medications to maximize efficacy in relation to the dialysis treatment regimen.
• Administers and monitors multiple medications such as anticoagulants, tissue plasminogen activator (tpa), pain medications, blood transfusions and antibiotics. Independently responds to dialysis patient emergencies such as hypotensive episodes, needle displacement or infiltration, and clotting episodes.
• Problem solves for benefit of patients/significant others, the patient care area and the nursing profession within scope of authority.
• Initiates and discontinues inpatient hemodialysis treatments via dialysis ports such as central venous catheters, arteriovenous fistulas and arteriovenous grafts

Acute Care Dialysis RN Experience

• Associates of Science in nursing or Bachelors Degree preferred
• Active Unencumbered Registered state MI license
• 1 year Dialysis experience required
• 3 months experience providing care to Hemodialysis patients
• ACLS and BLS Required
