Authorization Specialist Highlights

• The pay for this position is $18.34 per hour.
• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with training during the same hours for the first three weeks.
• Remote position, with the possibility of onsite work in the future.
• This position is a contract role.

Responsibilities

• Complete initial case reviews, confirm eligibility, and create authorizations post-admissions.
• Accurately and consistently document each call in the member's electronic record to meet compliance and regulatory standards.
• Protect member confidentiality, adhering to privacy/HIPAA policies.
• Support concurrent review nurses, respond promptly to provider inquiries, and address member concerns with empathy.
• Manage multiple priorities and adapt to change effectively.
• Build strong relationships with peers and Medicaid members.
• Enter authorizations within 24 hours of notification, process CON and RON documentation, and manage faxed medical records.
• Assist with discharges and research ASAM scores.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency in typing at 45 words per minute, with a minimum score of 6500 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
• 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• 2+ years of customer service, telemarketing, or sales experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and basic medical terminology experience.
• Flexibility to work outside standard business hours (8:00 AM - 9:00 PM EST).
