Behavioral Health Counselor Compensation

• The pay for this position is $34 per hour.
• Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment.
• A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates.

Behavioral Health Counselor Highlights

• This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs.
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM.

Behavioral Health Counselor Responsibilities

• Provide group and individual treatment to patients in the assigned program/facility.
• Develop and implement interventions as assigned under the supervision of professional behavioral/mental health staff.
• Counsel and encourage patients to participate in group and individual activities.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit appropriate documentation of activities and patient responses to treatment.
• Ensure materials for activities are safe and in good repair. Monitor usage and return of materials.
• Attend required safety training and in-service programs.
• Understand and comply with institution rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Behavioral Health Counselor Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, with human services, social work, or psychology preferred.
• Training, experience, or certification as a mental health worker, activities technician, case manager, or group counselor preferred.
• Prior experience in behavioral or mental health, or drug/alcohol rehabilitation services preferred.
• Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain security clearance.
• Attendance is mandatory for the first 90 days.

Behavioral Health Counselor Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a correctional healthcare setting.
