Title: Business Analyst V

Location: Lansing, MI (2-days onsite, 3-days remote Hybrid Schedule)

Schedule: Mon – Fri, 8:00AM – 5:00PM EST

Note: This is a W2 contract role; this role is NOT open to C2C or 3rd party candidates

Note: resources hired into this role will NOT be able to gamble within casinos or participate in online gaming in the State of Michigan

The Business Analyst is responsible for gathering and documenting clear, unambiguous, and testable business requirements from the client. They are also responsible for thoroughly understanding the business requirements in order to communicate business need and system functionality to technical and non-technical stakeholders, project team members, and the user community. The Business Analyst is responsible for working with the project team and stakeholders to examine existing and future-state business processes, data, and systems. This information is used to guide the gathering of business requirements as they relate to the desired system functionality.

Job Duties:

  • Documenting business requirements that are clear, explicit, testable, and satisfy the business need in accordance with standard templates and adherence to company policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Facilitating requirement gathering meetings to identify impacted business processes and document the project business requirements; attendees include relevant project team members and stakeholders, as identified in the Communication Plan
  • Adhering to the project schedule by developing and maintaining project backlog during Agile projects and working with the product owner to set priority throughout the duration of project
  • Understanding project scope and actively monitoring requirements processes to maintain adherence to the objectives set for the project
  • Understanding high-level information governance objectives and ensuring appropriate stakeholder inclusion and/or awareness regarding data requirements
  • Assisting with the appropriate resolution of critical IT issues as it pertains to the BA role
  • Assisting with gathering the information and analysis for Build vs. Buy project decisions
  • Understanding project specific benefits and related impact of changes to project scope or business requirements
  • Ensuring Systems Engineering Methodology (SEM) deliverables for the project that are a responsibility of the BA are completed, reviewed, and approved in alignment with area processes
  • Collaborating closely with the project manager to ensure alignment between business requirements and project execution
  • Working directly with project teams, including user interface/user experience (UI/UX) designers, tech leads, solution architects, database administrators, developers, QA testers, and technical writers to ensure understanding of the requirements, functionality, size, and scalability of the IT solution

Job Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ of experience with As-Is and To-Be process flows or equivalent business/IT process flows
  • 5+ years’ of experience collecting and documenting requirements, preferably with a combination of Waterfall and Agile methodology experience
  • 3+ years’ of experience writing detailed Epics, Features, and User Stories
  • 3+ years’ of experience with Microsoft Office, including Visio for process flow creation
  • 3+ years’ of experience using Azure DevOps or similar Agile tools
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and workshops, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other relevant field
