Speech Language Pathologist (PRN) Compensation
  • The pay for this position is $55.00 per hour.
  • Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment and include health, optical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance.
  • A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates.
Speech Language Pathologist (PRN) Highlights
  • This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs.
  • The required availability for this position is PRN (8am to 5pm)
Speech Language Pathologist (PRN) Responsibilities
  • Seeking PRN ST services for Magee branch. Coverage area is Smith, Simpson, Lawrence, and Jefferson Davis counties. Hazelhurst, MS is another branch without a dedicated ST and they cover Copiah, Lincoln and Pike counties.
  • The speech language pathologist is responsible for providing a full range of speech-language pathology services including identification assessment treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Essential Functions:
    • Conducts appropriate evaluations assesses home environment as appropriate and identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
    • Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a Plan of Care POC to improve patient's function.
    • Administers speech therapy program utilizing specialized therapeutic technique and/or equipment.
    • Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated.
    • Confers with referring physician and other staff to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care contributes to the total Plan of Care POC.
    • Documents the course of patient care including progress made and continuing need for treatment.
    • Provide patient and family/caregiver education on tasks and resources that will assist with continued functional independence.
    • Identifies patient and family/caregiver needs for other services and refers as appropriate.
    • May supervise home health aide in procedures related to the speech-language therapy Plan of Care POC.
    • As appropriate participates in case conferences in-services and other meetings required to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Speech Language Pathologist (PRN) Requirements
  • Must possess current Certificate of Clinical Competence CCC in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association ASHA
  • Or be CCC eligible and hold current state license as applicable.
  • Required Proof of current CPR certification
  • Required Current driver's license.
  • Required Must have reliable transportation and insurance.
  • Required 1-year clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Required Experience in a home care environment.
  • Preferred Education Graduate of a master's level program in speech-language pathology which is either accredited by the Educational Standards Board or whose course work and practice meet ASHA certification requirements.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Attendance is mandatory for the first 90 days.
Speech Language Pathologist (PRN) Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and organization skills.
  • Communicate and demonstrate a professional image/attitude for patient’s families’ clients’ coworkers and others.
  • Meets mandatory continuing education requirements. Maintains clinical competency in speech-language pathology practice and theory.
  • Demonstrates commitment professional growth and competency.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule and travel locally.
  • Ability to do heavy lifting bending pulling pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psychosocial needs.
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Promotes company philosophy and administrative policies.
  • Must read write and speak fluent English.
