Location: Columbus, OH at a government facility
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site. Contract.

Position Summary:

A-Line Staffing is seeking a Medical Coder Level 2 with strong analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems for a government facility in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will be certified through AAPC or AHIMA, hold an active membership in a professional coding organization, and demonstrate at least 3–4 years of coding experience. This role is vital in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and integrity in our medical coding processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and monitor medical coding policies and procedures for ICD, CPT, and HCPCS usage and compliance.

  • Serve as a resource and technical advisor on medical coding for internal departments.

  • Collaborate on statewide implementation of ICD and CPT guidelines.

  • Assist in auditing agency systems and reports to ensure proper assignment of medical codes.

  • Support the ICD Program Manager with regulatory research and policy alignment.

  • Resolve coding discrepancies in collaboration with clinical and administrative teams.

  • Maintain high standards of documentation accuracy and data quality.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

Technical Knowledge of:

  • ICD-9/10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

  • Coding theory and its application in accordance with healthcare laws and regulations.

  • Human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Claims processing, health information systems, and database management.

  • Federal/state laws (e.g., ORC) and standards from AHIMA, AAPC, and other regulatory bodies.

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: RHIA or RHIT degree and/or CCS/CCS-P/CPC certification.

  • Certifications (one or more required):

    • AHIMA: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P

    • AAPC: CPC

  • Experience: 3–4 years of experience in medical coding, with demonstrated expertise in ICD, CPT, and HCPCS systems.
