Certified Pharmacy Technician Highlights
- The pay for this position is $17.50 -$18.50 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday – Friday
- Onsite position. Located in Washington DC.
- This position is a full-time, contract role.
Responsibilities
Pharmacy Operations:
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and other pharmaceutical products.
- Accurately fill prescriptions and medication orders under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Verify prescription information, ensuring proper drug dosage, quantity, and labeling.
- Maintain medication inventory, including tracking stock levels, ordering supplies, and performing regular inventory checks.
- Prepare medications for distribution, including labeling, counting pills, and packaging.
- Monitor medication expiration dates and remove expired medications from inventory.
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by answering patient inquiries about prescription medications, dosage, side effects, and general pharmaceutical information.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients to ensure proper medication use and patient safety.
Administrative Tasks:
- Process prescription orders and update patient records using pharmacy management systems.
- Ensure that patient information is accurate and confidential, following all privacy and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist with insurance billing and claims submission for prescription medications.
Medication Safety & Compliance:
- Follow pharmacy laws, regulations, and guidelines to ensure a safe and compliant pharmacy environment.
- Assist in medication error reporting and support continuous improvement initiatives within the pharmacy.
Requirements
- Valid Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in medication dispensing.
- Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a healthcare or retail pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and medication management systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with patients, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management software and inventory control systems.
