Clinical Case Educator (Registered Nurse) – Specialty Medication Management

 

Location: Cary, NC (Hybrid – onsite twice weekly required)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM (occasional Saturdays)
Pay Rate: $40.00/hour - $41.00/hour

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse Clinical Case Educator to support patients enrolled in specialty medication therapy programs. This role is ideal for a nurse who is passionate about patient education, care coordination, and improving treatment outcomes through meaningful patient engagement.

The Clinical Case Educator will provide specialized counseling, medication education, and ongoing support to patients managing complex therapies. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with healthcare providers and internal teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Cary, NC and be available for a hybrid schedule requiring onsite work twice weekly.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate and counsel new and existing patients regarding specialty medication therapies.
  • Provide ongoing medication support to promote treatment adherence and positive patient outcomes.
  • Review potential and current medication side effects and provide education regarding treatment options and management strategies.
  • Support patient management programs through scheduled outreach, medication counseling, and clinical follow-up.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, pharmacy teams, and internal support teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Serve as a communication resource between patients, providers, and specialty pharmacy teams.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain patient demographic information, medical history, and clinical records according to HIPAA requirements.
  • Identify and report adverse events and product complaints according to regulatory requirements.
  • Support specialty medication verification and patient education processes.
  • Assist pharmacy support teams with timely and accurate specialty medication delivery coordination.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in a compact state or current North Carolina RN licensure.
  • Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or accredited nursing diploma.
  • Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience.
  • Experience in acute care, inpatient care, or specialty care settings required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based applications.
  • Ability to interpret clinical guidelines, professional standards, technical procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to obtain additional state licensure as needed within required timelines.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology nursing experience.
  • Specialty medication management experience.
  • Telehealth nursing experience.
  • Experience providing medication education and adherence support.
  • Motivational interviewing experience.
  • Background in complex patient care coordination.
