Controls Engineer

Job Description
- In conjunction with the Controls Engineering team, analyze proposal product, equipment, customer specifications and process requirements to conceive and produce a practical controls design within the limitations defined by cost, time and the availability of equipment or components
- Provide the Purchasing department with technical information relating to controls components as required
- In conjunction with Controls Engineering team, assist in the establishment of controls standards for new designs or modifications to the controls of existing equipment or process when required
- Assist with developing/ detailing controls designs, both hardware and software, that are compliant with customer specifications and industry standards
- Ensure design conforms to all applicable safety standards
- Assist in the de-bugging of the controls functions, after assembly to ensure programs meet engineering criteria
- In conjunction with Controls Engineering team members, provide installation supervision or service on equipment on customer floor after delivery, ensuring equipment functions to design criteria
- Perform other duties as required and as directed by Leadership
- Has the authority and obligation to stop production in case unsafe working condition are observed
- Has the obligation to notify his or her supervisor and/or a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee of any safety-related matter requiring immediate attention
- University degree in Electrical Engineering or college diploma in Electrical or Controls Technology
- One to Three (1-3) years’ experience in Controls Engineering (hydraulics, electrical, lubrication and pneumatics design)
- Design exposure to hydraulic pressures, industrial washers, automation, leak test equipment, robots and weld lines
- Design experience/exposure to PLC’S HMI hardware and software, servo controller hardware and software, ePLAN and Autocad
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere
