Job Type: 3-6 month Temporary Contract, Temp-to-Perm (opportunity to extend or convert to permanent employment based on business needs)

Available Schedules:

  • 2 Positions: 6:15 AM – 2:15 PM, Sundays and Tuesdays Off
  • 2 Positions: 6:15 AM – 2:15 PM, Sundays and Thursdays Off

Shift: First Shift, 6:15 AM – 2:15 PM

Position Summary:

The Dialysis Technician is responsible for providing direct patient care and technical support related to dialysis treatments. This role includes preparing dialysis equipment, monitoring patients during treatment, documenting clinical information, responding to emergencies, and ensuring compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare dialysate according to established procedures and physician prescriptions.
  • Obtain and document pre-dialysis vital signs, including weight and temperature.
  • Inspect dialysis access sites and initiate dialysis treatments according to protocol and patient prescription.
  • Measure, calculate, and adjust blood flow rates according to established procedures.
  • Administer anticoagulants according to physician orders and unit protocols.
  • Adjust fluid removal rates, patient positioning, and administer Normal Saline as directed by an RN, provider order, or protocol.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and overall condition throughout treatment.
  • Document treatment parameters and communicate patient concerns to nursing staff.
  • Monitor dialysis equipment, respond to alarms, and adjust treatment settings as necessary.
  • Respond appropriately to dialysis-related emergencies, including hypotension, needle displacement, infiltration, clotting episodes, blood leaks, and air emboli.
  • Initiate CPR in the event of cardiac or respiratory arrest.
  • Discontinue dialysis treatments and establish hemostasis according to protocol.
  • Clean, inspect, and dress dialysis access sites.
  • Obtain and record post-dialysis vital signs and patient weights.
  • Verify absence of residual sterilants.
  • Collect fluid samples and specimens for testing and shipment.
  • Dispose of dialysis supplies properly and sanitize equipment according to manufacturer and facility guidelines.
  • Communicate emotional, psychosocial, nutritional, and medical concerns to nursing staff.
  • Reinforce treatment plans and patient education.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure adequate patient care supplies are available.
  • Assist nursing staff with basic treatment procedures and hemodialysis therapies.
  • Review laboratory results and physician orders.
  • Perform basic clinical procedures, including dressing and bandage changes.
  • Prepare dialysis equipment before treatments and perform post-treatment equipment care.
  • Test machine functions, alarms, conductivity, and temperature settings.
  • Set monitors and alarms according to manufacturer and facility protocols.
  • Complete electronic flow sheets and treatment documentation.
  • Comply with CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, and all state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in quality assurance, cost containment, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in individual and team projects as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Ohio Dialysis Technician Certification/Licensure.
  • Professional-level CPR Certification.
  • Ability to accurately monitor and document patient conditions and treatment parameters.
  • Knowledge of dialysis equipment operation, monitoring systems, and alarm functions.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Orientation Requirements:

  • Orientation must be scheduled on a Tuesday.
  • Orientation begins at 8:30 AM and lasts until approximately noon.

Education:
