Director of Clinical and Social Services

Salary – Compensation – negotiable depending on experience

Reports to: Hospital Administrator

Department: Clinical

Job Overview:

Provides clinical and operational oversight for the outpatient, inpatient and residential unit staff. Ensures completion of day-to-day treatment services, intakes, and discharges. Reviews and monitors documentation of services and collects all required data for UM and QI processes.

 

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

· Ensure services provided are patient centered, medically necessary, and strengths-based interventions.

· Provide services with a focus on the respect and dignity of the client.

· Supports clinical staff in identifying, evaluating, and coordinating addiction and behavioral health treatment needs.

· Reviews, returns for documentation update, and signs off on all clinical documentation for non-independently licensed clinicians.

· Completes weekly team meetings to review client care and address treatment needs while clients are in residential care.

· Provides clinical staff with weekly individual supervision.

· Provides non-clinical staff with supervision, at least 1 time per month, can be completed in a group setting.

· Provide clinical staff with consultation support and feedback concerning client care.

· Provide services within your scope of practice and maintain independent licensure.

· Complete all required documentation within the identified company, state, federal, and accreditation standards.

· Work with UM nurse to complete monthly chart reviews and communicate findings to leadership team.

· Ensure all communication to outside providers or referral entities concerning patient care is HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 compliant.

· Collaborates in the processes of discharge assessment, planning, facilitation, and advocacy for services that meet client needs.

· Monitor and promote quality cost effective treatment and ensure positive client outcomes.

· Conducts on-site and telephonic communication with the member and/or member’s parents/guardian, facility, and outpatient providers as needed.

· Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and oral communication.

· Function as a member of a team, providing appropriate feedback, and when needed guidance to peers.

· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and the public.

· Maintains healthy boundaries with all agency clients, staff, and peers.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Hold a master’s degree in counseling or social services and be independently licensed as an LISW-S or LPCC-S. Preferably hold supervisor qualification to provide clinical oversight to students working on licensure.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Experience in direct clinical care with patients in facility-based and/or outpatient addiction and mental health treatment.

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in management.

· Ability to develop, maintain, and monitor treatment programming for mental health and addiction treatment.

· Intermediate to advanced computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

· Ability to use a variety of electronic information applications/software programs.

· Demonstrated skill in problem solving.

· Ability to be a positive change agent with peers and staff.

Special Conditions:

Might have to participate in de-escalation of patient in crisis. Exposure to contagious diseases through contact with patients. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens. Normal office environment while in the administrative office. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
