Director of Nursing Services Highlights
- Salary: $199,600 - $258,280 annually, comprehensive benefits

Director of Nursing Services Responsibilities
- Direct and manage inpatient nursing services within your assigned service line (e.g., Med Surg, Dialysis, Critical Care, Pediatrics, Perioperative, etc.).
- Collaborate with the CNO and other medical center management to identify and implement innovative models to improve quality care, service, and cost-efficiency.
- Develop and implement quality and utilization standards across the continuum of care, ensuring coordinated plans of treatment, patient-focused service delivery, and cost-effective services.
- Build and maintain relationships with clinical and administrative teams to improve the delivery of services and enhance patient care outcomes.
- Oversee the development of department standards, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulations and accreditation requirements.
- Manage staffing, budget allocation, and financial performance, ensuring optimal staffing ratios and minimal use of overtime or temporary staff.
- Mentor and develop nursing managers and staff in leadership, clinical practice, and professional development.
- Resolve HR, labor relations, employee safety, and risk management issues.
- Ensure continuous regulatory readiness and monitor the quality of care through clinical data and documentation systems.
- Participate in recruitment and retention efforts to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Drive improvement initiatives, including workplace safety, supply cost reduction, and patient satisfaction.
Director of Nursing Services Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of nursing experience in patient care, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Master’s in Nursing or Bachelor’s in Nursing with a Master’s degree in a related field.
- California Registered Nurse License required.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage through influence and change.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations such as the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and others.
- ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications may be required depending on department.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Director of Nursing Services Preferred Qualifications
- Magnet/shared governance experience preferred.
- Experience managing in a collective bargaining environment preferred.
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in Nursing preferred.
- National Certification within 1 year of hire.
