ED RN Job Description:
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced, high-volume emergency department. This includes performing emergency procedures, assessing patients, interpreting dysrhythmias, managing IV therapy and medications, and providing emergency response to critical situations. The role involves working with both adult and pediatric patients in a variety of emergency cases, including trauma, neurological, respiratory, psychiatric, and orthopedic cases.
ED RN Schedule & Location:
Schedule: 4x12 Nights, 18:45 - 07:15
Location: Onsite – Springfield, IL 62781, United States
ED RN Salary/Wage:
$48 - $52 per hour
ED RN Duties:
• Assess and manage emergency patients, providing care for adults and pediatrics in critical conditions
• Interpret dysrhythmias and manage associated emergency interventions
• Administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Manage respiratory emergencies, including chest tube insertion, intubation, and ventilator support
• Apply splints and manage orthopedic trauma cases
• Provide emergency care for neurological cases, such as CVA, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury
• Handle pediatric emergencies including asthma, head injuries, seizures, and poison ingestion
• Address psychiatric emergencies, including acute psychosis, drug overdose, and suicidal patients
• Perform triage and isolation precautions, following hospital protocols
• Document and chart patient care in Cerner EHR system
ED RN Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department nursing experience required
• Active IL Nursing License or in application process with ETA
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC
• General Emergency Department and Combined Adult/Pediatric experience
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including blood product administration and starting IVs
• Medication skills for emergency medications, procedural sedation, and vasopressors
• Neurological, orthopedic, respiratory, pediatric, and psychiatric case management experience
• Cerner experience required
ED RN Physical Requirements:
• Requires full range of body motion, including standing for extended periods, lifting patients, and performing procedures
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and possess manual dexterity for IV insertion and other tasks
• Requires normal vision and hearing to assess patient needs and provide care
ED RN Education:
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License required
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
