The Electrical Engineer - Firmware / Controls Engineering position is a full-time, onsite opportunity offering $59.03 per hour, with long-term contract potential and a consistent Monday–Friday, daytime schedule.

Electrical Engineer - Firmware / Controls Engineering – Highlights
  • This is a contract role with potential for long-term extension
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Location: Onsite in Durham, NC
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Focus: Firmware / Controls Engineering (JG3 Level)
Electrical Engineer - Firmware / Controls Engineering – Responsibilities
  • Design and develop robotic motion control systems and automation solutions
  • Perform kinematic analysis and create control algorithms for robotic platforms
  • Write and document code for motion control systems and embedded applications
  • Collaborate across mechanical and electrical design teams to optimize performance
  • Engage with vendors and support intellectual property evaluations with Legal
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (IEC 60601, ISO 13485, ISO 14971)
  • Travel may be required (approximately 1–2 trips/year)
Electrical Engineer - Firmware / Controls Engineering – Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science required (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in robotics and automation, including electro-mechanical and software development
  • Proficiency in:
    • PLC programming and configuration
    • DC motor control and servo systems
    • Troubleshooting PLC systems (Beckhoff, Galil, Panasonic, Allen-Bradley)
    • Object-oriented programming (C#, C++)
    • .NET Framework, UML, PID control, and CAN bus networking
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance in software/hardware design
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
