Filling Pharmacy Technician Compensation
• The pay for this position is $21.00 per hour
• Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment
• A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates
Filling Pharmacy Technician Highlights
• This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs
• The required availability for this position includes:
- (2) shifts 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- (2) shifts 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM
Filling Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities
• Fills prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, packaging medications for dispensing and delivery, meeting the pharmacy’s accuracy and productivity standards
• Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels
• Participates in the periodic inventory of the pharmacy
• May check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves, and remove out-of-date items from the inventory
• Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding
• Communicates with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner
• May process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction
• Assists in the training of new employees
• Performs at least one of the following:
- Works in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room
- Works with automated machines to prepack drugs
- Manages inventory functions such as monitoring pharmaceutical levels, identifying expired medications, and managing to the pharmacy standard for Days on Hand
- Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels
- Mixes/packages IV medications, sanitizes IV room, equipment, and hood
• Services facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow)
• Performs other tasks as assigned
Filling Pharmacy Technician Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Pharmacy Technician license required for Maine
• Experience in a pharmacy setting and familiarity with medical terminology
• Ability to operate a computer
• Ability to recognize and identify medications
• Detail-oriented, goal-oriented, team player with strong oral communication skills
Filling Pharmacy Technician Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in Long-Term Care pharmacy
