Title: HR Personnel Administrator (Payroll Administrator)

Location: Canton, MI

We are looking for an efficient HR Personnel Administrator who will be responsible for all aspects of managing salary data, ensuring timesheets are accurate, and payments are made on time. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support by maintaining attendance tracking programs, processing payroll updates, maintaining files, and managing communications for the HR Department.

HR Personnel Administrator Position Duties:

  • Evaluate the accuracy of timesheets submitted by each company department every week and contact supervisors or individual employees if there is a discrepancy
  • Manage electronic timekeeping systems
  • Enter information accurately into the payroll system, including employee taxes, exemptions, transfers, and firings/resignations, as details change
  • Respond to any errors in payroll by reviewing past records and making wage corrections or adjustments, when necessary
  • Tracking employee absences through the payroll software and recording details about personal days, sick leave, jury duty, or extended leaves of absence
  • Tracking employee vacation accruals, approving/denying time off requests, and posting vacation calendars
  • Answering employee questions about payroll, leave amounts, tax forms, and other compensation issues
  • Participating in new employee orientation
  • Handling other duties, as assigned or deemed necessary by supervisors

Position Requirements:

  • Prior payroll experience required
  • Strong understanding of employment and payroll taxes
  • Strong, basic accounting and math skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience operating in a union environment preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required; College Degree or coursework in advanced math, business, or other related fields preferred

This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.
