Location: Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Pay: $49/hour
Schedule: 7:00am-7:30pm, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation: Every 6th weekend on call with a 30-minute response time
- On-call: Required for weeknights and weekends
Overview
We are now hiring an experienced Surgical Technologist in Grand Rapids, MI. This is a great opportunity for a skilled surgical professional with strong operating room experience and pediatric experience who is looking for a hospital setting.
This position is based in the OR and requires a candidate who can work independently, maintain a sterile field, and support the surgical team throughout procedures in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the surgical suite for procedures
- Set up case tables with sterile instruments, supplies, medications, and solutions
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures
- Pass instruments and supplies during operations
- Perform surgical sponge, needle, and instrument counts
- Assist with safe patient positioning before and during procedures
- Support overall surgical case flow and respond appropriately to changing conditions
- Collaborate with surgeons and team members on instrument preferences and case setup
- Help identify efficiency improvements and cost-saving opportunities in the OR
Job Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Active CST or TS-C certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of relevant Surgical Technologist experience
- Strong independent scrub experience required
- Pediatric experience required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique and intraoperative procedures
Preferred Experience
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Experience working in a pediatric hospital or pediatric OR strongly preferred
- Experience supporting surgeons across a variety of surgical procedures
Education
- Associate’s degree preferred
