Hematology Laboratory Supervisor Compensation
- Salary: $78,000 – $105,600 per year
- Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment
Hematology Laboratory Supervisor Schedule
- Tuesday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Rotating Saturdays every 12 weeks
Hematology Laboratory Supervisor Position Overview
The Hematology Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations within the hematology department, ensuring accurate testing, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow from specimen processing through results reporting. This role provides leadership to laboratory staff, supports quality initiatives, and ensures adherence to clinical standards, policies, and procedures in a regulated laboratory environment.
Hematology Laboratory Supervisor Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of laboratory teammates and daily workflow
- Ensure adherence to laboratory procedures, quality assurance standards, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor turnaround times, service levels, and performance metrics
- Oversee specimen quality and accuracy of testing processes
- Support training programs, competency assessments, and staff development initiatives
- Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary processes (as applicable)
- Maintain staffing plans, schedules, and workload distribution to ensure operational coverage
- Support bench work and assist with testing as needed
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and maintain SOPs and training documentation
- Participate in quality improvement activities including audits, incident reporting, and regulatory compliance (CAP, CLIA, state requirements)
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements
- Serve as a technical and operational resource for laboratory personnel
Hematology Laboratory Supervisor Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or related field
- 6–8 years of experience as a Medical Technologist and/or Supervisor
- Valid Florida Supervisor’s License in Hematology
- Certification from a professional laboratory certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT)
Hematology Laboratory Supervisor Preferred Qualifications
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a clinical laboratory environment
- Experience in hematology and/or core laboratory operations
- Familiarity with regulatory and accreditation standards (CAP, CLIA, state requirements)
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing laboratory staff
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems and compliance frameworks
