Job Description
Now hiring a Hospital Custodian in Dearborn, MI 48126. The Custodian would be working night shift in a hospital emergency department and has career growth potential. This would be full time / 40 hours per week (10pm-6:30am S, M, W, F).
Candidates that solely have housekeeping experience are not likely to be suited to this position.

Custodian Compensation & Highlights
- Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour, paid Biweekly (Potential pay range if converted to direct/FTE: $17/hr-$22/hr as well as Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, etc.)
- United Healthcare benefits are available through A-Line Staffing after 90 days and include health, optical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance. To be eligible for benefits you must work an average of 30 hours per week for your first 6 weeks.
- A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates
- Required Availability: NIGHTS 10pm-6:30am Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- REQUIRED: Weekend and holiday availability
- Setting: Position is working in the Emergency Department.
- This position is a W2 contract assignment with potential for extension or conversion to direct based on attendance, performance, and business needs. Currently 3 month assignment to start
Custodian Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Management Team, responsible for the cleanliness and servicing of assigned work areas, care of assigned equipment and economical and efficient use of all supplies.
- Responsible for performing a variety of custodial and nursing duties to maintain a sanitary and orderly condition of the multiple locations.
- Sets up rooms, move furniture, remove medical non regulated and recycled waste.
- Operates ultraviolet (UV) disinfection equipment (i.e., Xenex Robot).
- Performs a variety of housekeeping duties such as cleaning walls, ceilings, floors and windows.
- Changes and hang all drapes and cubicles.
- Delivers and pick up tables and chairs for meetings and other hospital functions.
- Operates various floor machines to remove dirt from floors.
- Strips and refinish floor surfaces.
- Cleans after construction projects are completed and prepare for opening the area.
- Reports any mechanical failures or negative conditions as observed in assigned areas for preparation of work order for the maintenance department.
- Notifies supervisor when supplies are low and need to be replenished and/or ordered.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, environmental and infection control standards.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit data per HIPAA regulations.
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental/interdepartmental objectives and maintain good employee relations.
- Enhances job related growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Custodian Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years custodial experience preferably in hospital setting
- Knowledge of how to operate janitorial machinery (ex: side by side, walk behind).
- Preferred: High School Diploma/GED
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull and/or squat a minimum of 50 pounds, able to stand and walk 90% of work period and able to walk stairs and negotiate uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to interact directly with patient population, job requires high visibility.
- Must exhibit consistently high level of customer service and ‘Patients First’ sensibility.
