Job Description
Job Summary
Plan, organize, and direct Information Technology activities. Manage and coach staff in a single facility setting with multiple remote locations connected via WAN. Develop and coordinate policies and procedures departmentally and facility-wide to ensure quality service. Foster an environment of continuous quality improvement. Develop annual budgets, set quality goals, and operate within guidelines. Actively participate in committees to further patient care objectives. Provide strategic plans to administration to maintain the organization's reputation as a leader in technology and cost-effective automation.
Job Responsibilities
- Leadership: Demonstrate effective leadership of the Information Technology department.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the capital budget for the Information Technology area.
- System Deployment: Oversee the development, procurement, and deployment of computer systems.
- Project Consultation: Consult with hospital management to define project boundaries and priorities.
- Project Coordination: Work with hospital department managers to ensure cooperation and refine project scope.
- Professional Conduct: Exhibit polite, considerate, and professional behavior with patients, visitors, employees, and peers.
- Policy Management: Develop, review, revise, and enforce hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Staff Management: Determine the quantity, qualifications, and competence of department personnel required to fulfill obligations.
- Resource Allocation: Identify necessary resources (equipment, supplies, space, etc.) to carry out departmental functions.
- Budget Adherence: Assist in preparing the department’s operating and capital budgets and manage operations within the approved budget.
- Staff Development: Ensure department employees attend general and job-specific orientation, assess and ensure competency, provide education/in-services as needed, and conduct timely performance evaluations.
- Compliance: Comply with applicable regulatory agency guidelines and federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Goal Setting: Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives aligned with the hospital’s mission and strategic plans.
- Communication: Facilitate intra- and interdepartmental communication and collaboration to promote efficient operations.
- Professional Development: Maintain professional growth through seminars, workshops, professional affiliations, and current literature review.
- Committee Participation: Participate in hospital committees, sponsored programs, activities, and civic community activities as requested.
- Quality Control: Maintain necessary quality control programs.
- Service Procurement: Participate in selecting outside sources for needed services when appropriate.
Hospital Responsibilities
- Adhere to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Ensure day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
- Perform within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance, and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
- Operate within professional Scope of Practice at all times.

- Flexibility: Management retains the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
Educational Requirements
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or Management Information Systems.
Experience Requirements
- Required: Minimum of 5 years’ experience with increasing responsibility in Information Technology within a healthcare environment.
