Infusion RN – Oncology Job description:
The Infusion RN - Oncology will provide high-quality nursing care to oncology patients in an infusion clinic setting, specializing in chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in oncology and a minimum of 1 year in chemotherapy infusion. The role involves direct patient care, including administering medications, managing central lines and ports, and ensuring accurate documentation. The Infusion RN will also provide patient education, monitor for side effects, and collaborate with the healthcare team to modify treatment plans as needed. Compassion, attention to detail, and strong IV skills are key for success in this role. Travel may be required between Dallas region sites depending on clinic needs.
Infusion RN – Oncology Schedule & location:
- Monday – Friday – 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Infusion Clinic – Dallas, TX 75231, United States (Position may travel between Dallas area sites depending on clinic needs)
Infusion RN – Oncology Salary/Wage:
- Level RN 2 (3-5 years of experience): $37-$39 per hour
- Level RN Sr (5+ years of experience): $39-$44 per hour (depending on years of experience)
Infusion RN – Oncology Duties:
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional materials.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer medications/blood products using the correct medication/blood product, dosage, route, time, and technique.
- Ensure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to therapy administration.
- Facilitate dose modifications by assessing patients, reviewing labs, consulting protocols/treatment plans, calculating doses, and consulting with the physician regarding dosage adjustments, problems, and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Infusion RN – Oncology Required Qualification:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Current RN state license and registration with the Texas State Board of Nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- MUST HAVE CHEMOTHERAPY INFUSION EXPERIENCE.
- 3-5 years as a registered nurse (preferably at least 2 years in oncology) and at least 1 year in infusion therapy and chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration.
- Strong IV skills and experience accessing port devices.
- Compassionate, independent worker, and educator.
Infusion RN – Oncology Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations in an oncology/hematology clinic setting.
Infusion RN – Oncology Education:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Current RN state license and registration with the Texas State Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS certification.
