Location: Seattle, WA

Lead Pharmacy Operations for One of the Nation's Most Respected Healthcare Organizations
We are seeking an experienced pharmacy leader to oversee inpatient pharmacy operations across a large acute care healthcare system in Seattle, Washington. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a clinical and operational pharmacy professional who excels at developing teams, driving regulatory compliance, implementing strategic initiatives, and improving patient outcomes across multiple hospital settings.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive inpatient hospital pharmacy experience, proven leadership of pharmacists and pharmacy staff, and a strong background collaborating with physician and hospital leadership in a complex healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
  • Direct and oversee inpatient pharmacy operations across acute care practice settings.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that improve pharmacy services, medication safety, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes.
  • Partner with executive pharmacy leadership to implement enterprise-wide pharmacy priorities and performance goals.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, accreditation, and organizational standards.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop pharmacists, pharmacy interns, pharmacy technicians, supervisors, and managers.
  • Build high-performing teams through coaching, succession planning, performance management, and professional development.
  • Manage staffing models and operational workflows in a 24/7/365 hospital environment.
  • Participate in hiring, employee development, disciplinary actions, and talent planning.
Clinical & Pharmacy Practice Excellence
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize medication management practices.
  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of clinical workflows, formulary initiatives, and drug utilization programs.
  • Provide strategic guidance regarding pharmaceutical care, medication safety, and therapeutic best practices.
  • Support development and implementation of evidence-based drug therapy programs.
Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure adherence to DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, HIPAA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor quality metrics, operational performance indicators, and pharmacy outcomes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and corrective action plans when needed.
  • Oversee pharmacy policies, procedures, compounding standards, and medication-use processes.
Financial & Strategic Management
  • Manage operational and project budgets.
  • Utilize pharmacy utilization data to identify opportunities for improvement and cost management.
  • Support inventory management strategies and medication supply planning.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on operational planning and hospital growth initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacy degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of pharmacist experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience with direct reports and full people-management responsibilities.
  • Minimum 2 years of operational or project budget management experience.
  • Experience managing inpatient pharmacy operations.
  • Experience supervising pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, interns, and support staff.
  • Experience collaborating with physicians, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining clinical workflows.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Washington Pharmacist License.
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) required within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PGY1 or PGY2 Residency Training.
  • Experience leading pharmacy operations in a 24/7 hospital environment.
  • Experience in unionized healthcare settings.
  • Experience supporting Critical Care, ICU, Medical-Surgical, Emergency Department, Urgent Care, and Infusion services.
  • Experience supporting hospital expansions, service-line growth, or major operational initiatives.
