INSTRUMENT ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN | DETAILS AND COMPENSATION:
- Location: Sparks Glencoe, MD 21152 – 100% On-site
- Payrate: $23/hr
- Required Availability: Full-Time | 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) – some required OT
INSTRUMENT ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN | SUMMARY AND HIGHLIGHTS:
The Instrument Assembly Technician is responsible for the end-to-end assembly, integration, and troubleshooting of complex electromechanical medical instruments in a highly regulated GMP environment. As a technical leader, you will interpret intricate blueprints, perform precision soldering and wiring, and mentor junior associates while driving Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Your primary purpose is to ensure the successful production of sophisticated devices through expert craftsmanship and rigorous quality testing.
- This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs

INSTRUMENT ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN | RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complex Assembly: Perform intricate assembly on electronic and mechanical subassemblies, including wiring, hand soldering, cable harnessing, and fitting.
- System Integration: Build and integrate multiple product lines, ensuring sub-assemblies are correctly incorporated into finished instruments.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Execute test instructions, analyze data for pass/fail results, and conduct moderately complex repairs and reworks on prototype or production units.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert by reading complex blueprints/drawings and providing training and mentoring to junior team members.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives (Kaizen, Blitzes) to improve performance and safety across the work cell.
- Quality Compliance: Maintain accurate device history records and ensure all work follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SOPs.
INSTRUMENT ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN | REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (verifiable) | Associate’s (AA) technical degree with relevant technical experience – preferred
- Attendance: Commitment to mandatory attendance during the first 90 days.
- 2.5 years of manufacturing experience – in lieu of Associate’s
- Required: Previous experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in using mechanical tools (torque drivers, gauges, bits) and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings.
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency with PCs and a Windows-based environment.
- Leadership: Proven ability to coach and develop others in a team setting.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a repetitive production environment.
- Must be available for mandatory OT
