Long Term Care Pharmacist
Job Description
Pay: $64.27 per hour
Job Type: 2-Month Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Location: Macon, GA 31204-2787
Job Summary
We are seeking a licensed Long Term Care Pharmacist to join our team in Macon, GA. This role is responsible for accurately dispensing prescription medications, ensuring regulatory compliance, supervising pharmacy staff, and providing patient education and consultation. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and experience in long-term care or retail pharmacy settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
- Ensure prescribed medications are appropriate and within legal/regulatory guidelines
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and pharmacy files
- Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications including:

- Proper usage and dosage
- Storage requirements
- Potential side effects
- Drug interactions
- Advise patients on possible reactions and answer medication-related questions
- Provide patient services such as:

- Smoking cessation counseling
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Cholesterol management
- Educate patients on proper use of medical devices (blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, etc.)
- Compound medications for internal and external use
- Prepare sterile solutions following proper procedures
- Supervise pharmacy technicians, clerks, and other pharmacy staff
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Identify and resolve drug-related problems in collaboration with physicians and healthcare providers
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, interns, and other healthcare professionals
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
- Active Georgia Pharmacist License (REQUIRED)
- Licensed by the State Pharmacy Board
- Long-term care and/or retail pharmacy experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation
