Location(s): UPMC Harrisburg, UPMC Community Osteopathic, or West Shore (Final placement to be determined in interview)
Shift Options: 8-hour, 10-hour, or 12-hour shifts available
No on-call, No weekends
Compensation: 50.00-53 per hour local
MRI Technologist Responsibilities:
- Perform MRI scans on patients based on physician orders while ensuring proper patient positioning and safety.
- Prepare and maintain MRI equipment, ensuring all machinery is functioning properly and performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Educate patients on the MRI procedure, addressing any concerns or anxieties they may have before the scan.
- Review and verify patient information to ensure the proper imaging procedure is performed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and imaging documentation.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality imaging results.
- Monitor patients during the procedure to ensure comfort and safety.
- Follow all safety protocols to prevent patient and staff exposure to unnecessary radiation or other risks.
- Adhere to HIPAA and other privacy regulations in managing patient information.
- Stay current on advancements in MRI technology and techniques through ongoing education and training.
MRI Technologist Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in Radiologic Technology or related field preferred.
- Completion of an accredited MRI Technologist program.
- Certification in MRI Technology (ARRT MRI or equivalent) required.
- Current state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist (if applicable).
- Previous experience as an MRI Technologist preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of MRI equipment, safety protocols, and imaging techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information with discretion.
