MATERIAL HANDLER | DETAILS AND COMPENSATION:

  • Location: Canaan, CT 06018 – 100% On-site
    • must live within 45 minutes of the worksite
  • Payrate: $19.25/hr
  • Required Availability: Full-Time | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
    • Alternating "2-2-3" style schedule
    • Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun, Week 2: Wed, Thu
    • Must be open and flexible to temporary training on the day shift for a limited period.

MATERIAL HANDLER | SUMMARY AND HIGHLIGHTS:

The Material Handler will be using a variety of equipment, primarily forklifts, to move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished goods throughout the plant and sterilization department. You will work within clearly defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality and efficiency in a metrics-driven environment.

  • This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs
  • Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment and include health, optical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance
  • A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates

MATERIAL HANDLER | RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Material Handling: Operate forklifts and other equipment to transport products safely within the facility.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of material movement and inventory.
  • Process Adherence: Follow SOPs and scientific methods while adhering to strict quality guidelines.
  • Communication: Coordinate effectively with Team Leads and supervisors to meet daily production goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop skills in basic tasks, techniques, and procedures within the material handling and logistics area.

MATERIAL HANDLER | REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (verifiable)
  • Attendance: Commitment to mandatory attendance during the first 90 days.
  • Previous forklift experience is required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is highly preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend documents in English.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach, and lift/move up to 50 lbs. The role involves repetitive motion and operating in a moderate to loud industrial environment.
  • PPE: Steel-toe shoes are required.
