MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN | DETAILS AND COMPENSATION:
- Location: Sumter SC 29153 – 100% on-site
- Payrate: $23.50/hr
- Required Availability: Full-Time | Sunday-Thursday, Midnight – 8am (3rd shift)
MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN | SUMMARY AND HIGHLIGHTS:
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain product quality. This role is critical for ensuring our high-speed manufacturing equipment runs at peak performance.
- This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs

MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN | RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair machine breakdowns, including issues with speed of operation and waste levels.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled PMs and maintain equipment logs with clear, legible records of downtime and maintenance tasks.
- Equipment Optimization: Set up and debug equipment according to plant specifications; monitor and replenish component inventories.
- Quality Control: Continually monitor in-process quality to prevent product holds and perform required Q.C. checks/process challenges.
- Collaboration: Work in a team-oriented environment, supporting upstream and downstream operations and assisting senior technicians with major repairs.
MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN | REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (verifiable)
- Attendance: Commitment to mandatory attendance during the first 90 days.
- Mechanical Expertise: Proven experience in mechanical troubleshooting REQUIRED (hands-on background in auto mechanics, HVAC, or machinist roles is a plus).
- Precision Tooling: Proficient with feeler gauges and other tools used to measure tolerances, torque, and clearances. REQUIRED
- System Knowledge: Familiarity with cams, cam-followers, chain drives, conveyors, gearboxes, vacuum systems, pneumatic systems, and ball valves. REQUIRED
- Physical Capability: Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
Compliance & Physical Requirements
- Vision Screening: This role requires 20/30 vision (with or without corrective lenses) and/or successful completion of a color vision exam.
- Environment: Must be able to work in a manufacturing setting, following all safety and Quality System Requirements (QSR).
