Temp Medical Records Clerk
Location:
- Training Location: Blacksburg (2-3 weeks)
- Transfer Location: Wytheville (after training)
Schedule:
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible)
Salary/Wage:
$14 - $16 per hour
Job Description:
The Temp Medical Records Clerk is responsible for managing patient medical records, ensuring accurate and timely documentation, and supporting the medical office staff. Duties include scanning and attaching internal and external medical reports to patient charts, ensuring completeness of patient records, processing medical record requests, and managing physician dictation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The role also involves handling FMLA/Disability forms, supporting front office operations, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scan & Organize Records: Scan and attach correspondence and medical reports into patient charts, following filing systems.
- Chart Management: Pull and organize charts for scheduled appointments, ensuring documentation is complete.
- Release Records: Process patient record requests according to State and Federal regulations.
- Physician Support: Monitor physician dictation in the EHR system and ensure completion in a timely manner.
- Form Processing: Handle FMLA/Disability forms, and manage faxing or mailing of completed forms.
- Office Assistance: Provide backup support to front office staff and assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry files or office materials up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent use of a computer, fax, and phone systems.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional medical office or administrative certifications a plus.
