Intake Therapist – Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) (LMSW, LPC, or LLP)

Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (Perm/Direct Hire) - Flexible part time hours are available, and full-time positions may be considered
Location: Southgate, MI 48195 (Services are delivered in the office setting on a walk-in basis or scheduled basis.)
Compensation

  • Hourly Rate (Full License): $29.47 – $39.88
  • Pay is dependent on experience
  • Salary range is grant-funded and non-negotiable

Schedule: Evenings Shift

  • Monday–Thursday: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Friday: 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Some Saturday hours may be required (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM) based on program needs
  • On-Call: None

Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed Intake Therapist to join a Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) program. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive intake assessments, engaging individuals and families in person-centered care, and facilitating timely access to behavioral health services for adults, adolescents, children, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Services are provided onsite in an office-based setting on a walk-in or scheduled basis. Flexible part-time scheduling is available, and full-time opportunities may be considered.

Required Education & Licensure (Michigan – Full License Required)

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling
  • Active, unrestricted State of Michigan licensure in the corresponding discipline

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake assessments to identify clinical needs, service preferences, and eligibility
  • Complete intake documentation within 48 hours
  • Gather and integrate information from multiple sources, including consumers, families, guardians, providers, and prior treatment records
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to assess readiness for change
  • Educate consumers, families, and guardians on available services and supports
  • Initiate the person-centered planning process in alignment with Medicaid guidelines and evidence-based practices
  • Develop Safety Plans when clinically indicated
  • Identify individuals requiring additional evaluations and facilitate referrals as needed
  • Promote the use of group and support services when appropriate
  • Participate in clinical supervision, case consultations, and team meetings
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all services and contacts
  • Meet established productivity standards and documentation timelines
  • Respond to chart reviews and audits as required
  • Maintain active licensure, certifications, and professional ethics
  • Complete a minimum of 25 hours of role-specific training annually
  • Comply with all organizational policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year post-Master’s experience providing mental health treatment to adults and children with serious mental illness
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience treating or working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the evaluation and treatment of minors and their families
  • Ability to obtain QMHP, CMHP, and QIDP credentials within 120 days of hire
  • Must possess aCAADC credential or be on an approved MCBAP Certification Development Plan within six (6) weeks of hire
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and crisis response skills
  • Ability to build therapeutic alliances with diverse populations, including individuals with I/DD and their families
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational communication skills
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and nonjudgmental, person-centered approach
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with crisis intervention
  • Experience working in urgent care, intake, or walk-in behavioral health settings
