Molecular Laboratory Technician Compensation

• The pay for this position is $27 per hour
• Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment
• A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates

Molecular Laboratory Technician Highlights

• This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs
• The required availability for this position is 8am to 5pm

Molecular Laboratory Technician Responsibilities

• Making aliquots of reagents for testing
• Tracking, assembling, and shipping sampling kits
• Creating/updating freezer inventories
• Labelling and organizing samples before testing
• Putting samples and reagents away after testing is complete
• Invoicing for supply cost reimbursement
• Simple sample processing, including adding media to tubes and centrifuging samples
• Long-term storage of clinical samples
• Creating worksheets and setting up runs on thermal cyclers
• Complex sample processing, including tissue and semen
• Setting up washes and KingFisher Flex for extraction or performing manual spin column nucleic acid extraction
• Making master mix for PCR
• Loading extraction plate
• Running the QIAxcel or gel electrophoresis
• Performing conventional and real-time PCRs
• Assisting with Sanger sequencing preparation

Molecular Laboratory Technician Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related field
• Experience in a laboratory setting, ideally in molecular biology or a related field
• Familiarity with techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, nucleic acid extraction, and sample preparation
• Ability to follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and maintain detailed laboratory documentation
• Strong understanding of molecular biology principles and techniques
• High School Diploma or GED
• Attendance is mandatory for the first 90 days

Molecular Laboratory Technician Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in clinical or research laboratories
  Knowledge of Sanger sequencing and advanced PCR methodologies
  Proficiency with laboratory instruments like QIAxcel and KingFisher Flex
