Job Description
Title: Network Architect
Location: Rochester Hills, MI
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST
Note: This role is NOT open to C2C or 3rd party candidates
The Network Architect will be responsible for interpreting business requirements into technical network solution frameworks. They will provide technology roadmaps governed by strategic direction and business requirements, as well as resourcing and financial constraints. They will liaise with enterprise, server, and applications architects to ensure alignment across technology portfolios. Additional job duties include:
- Providing technical direction and frameworks to meet business needs
- Providing expert consultation for major network initiatives and/or incidents
- Producing and/or endorsing network standards
- Providing advice and recommendations specific to customer requirements
- Evaluating emerging technologies against business and IT strategic needs
- Serving as a key representative on major network initiatives
- Analyzing technical needs, requirements, and state of the network's infrastructure design, integration, and operations
- Working with technical management to architect networks that effectively reflect business needs, service-level and availability requirements, and other technology parameters
- Developing design principles, models, plans, internal standards, budgets, and processes based on industry best practices
- Establishing governing principles for network design and deployment
- Participating in selection of networking technologies and products for implementation
- Continually updating understanding of business and technology status and objectives to respond to strategic design requests as the business evolves
- Updating standards and guidelines and writing technical and business documentation
- Liaising with management and support teams
- Assisting in scoping costs of projects
- Guiding and influencing team members and business colleagues
- Working with other SMEs and technical support teams in the pursuit of technically excellent solutions
- Producing technically excellent solutions architecture that is aligned to business needs and direction
Position Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience designing and implementing comprehensive network solutions using Avaya, Cisco, or Juniper Products including a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology OR 10+ year of related work experience; Certification in Cisco and/or Juniper technologies required
- Advanced knowledge of protocols, including BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, EIGRP, SPB, and TRILL
- Experience with IPV4 and IPV6
- Knowledge of WAN technologies
- Knowledge of redundancy and high availability protocols, such as VRRP, HSRP, GLBP, SLB, LACP, and PAGP
- Advanced knowledge of network virtualization technologies, including MPLS, VRF, VLAN, and VSS
- Advanced knowledge of tunneling protocols, including IPSEC, GRE, and L2TPv3
- Experience in data center and high availability designs
- Advanced knowledge of Quality of Service
- Experience with VOIP components and converged networks
- Experience with network security standards
- Knowledge of Avaya, Cisco, and Juniper network hardware models, including Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Packet Analysis, and WAN Accelerators
