Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic oncology team in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing care for oncology patients. You will work closely with physicians and the healthcare team to provide the highest level of patient care.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Conduct comprehensive physical exams, health histories, and diagnostic studies to assess patient status.
• Prescriptions: Write prescriptions for medications, blood products, diagnostic tests, and therapeutic measures, adhering to established practice protocols.
• Clinical Trials: Assess patient eligibility for clinical trials based on evaluation findings.
• Collaboration: Communicate treatment plans and findings to collaborating physicians.
• Documentation: Accurately document patient histories, progress notes, admissions, discharge summaries, and other essential records.
• Rounds & On-Call: Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds and provide on-call coverage as needed.
• Crisis Management: Provide support to staff during emergency and crisis situations.
• Training: Assist in training new staff in related duties and procedures.
• Compliance: Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Position Requirements

• Education: Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Maryland.
  • Prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply.
  • Current certification from ANCC or ONS (AOCN-P).
  • Current BLS certification.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an NP, specifically in oncology.
• Core Competencies:
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
• Physical Demands: Must be able to perform physical exams, manage emergency situations, and move between patient care areas.
• Travel: Occasional local travel may be required.
