Senior Oncology Nurse Clinician Highlights
- The pay for this position is $65.00-$75.00 per hour, based on experience.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Onsite position (Outpatient Oncology Clinic)
• This position is a Full-Time role.
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert-level nursing care to adult oncology patients in outpatient and infusion clinic settings
• Independently perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and manage symptom monitoring throughout treatment
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other complex IV medications following strict safety and sterile protocols
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and initiate appropriate clinical interventions
• Educate patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, side effects, and symptom management using teach-back methods
• Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families throughout the cancer care continuum
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, procedures, and follow-up
• Serve as a clinical role model and mentor to RNs and clinical staff; guide responses to oncologic emergencies
• Identify opportunities for practice improvement using evidence-based research and present findings to leadership
• Accurately document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient education in the electronic medical record
• Participate in leadership initiatives, professional development, and regulatory compliance activities
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical RN experience, including oncology nursing
• Active Texas RN license or valid temporary permit (permanent license required within 90 days)
• Current BLS certification
• Oncology Nursing Certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment
• Strong clinical judgment, patient advocacy skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced oncology environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• Ambulatory Oncology experience
• ACLS certification
• Chemotherapy administration and hazardous drug handling certification
• Bilingual (preferred, not required)
