Job Title: Corrections RN – 3rd Shift
Pay: $45–$50 per hour | Contract
Job Type: Contract Assignment
Location: Corrections Medical Center, 1851 Ohio 56 London OH 43140
Shift: 3rd Shift, 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM, 5 days per week
- Every third week includes a weekend shift (schedule allows a day prior and a day off after the weekend shift).
Corrections RN Overview:
Responsible for the health care of 20–60 bedridden inmates. Provides comprehensive nursing care, evaluates and plans treatment, administers medications including narcotics, and performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusions, intubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy.
Corrections RN Key Responsibilities:
- Makes rounds, evaluates care needed and rendered, develops care plans, and teaches health care principles.
- Organizes and oversees the “Code Blue” team and directs health care staff (hospital aides, LPNs) in the assigned area.
- Acts as lead RN on shift in the absence of higher-level nursing staff.
- Assists physicians with diagnostic health evaluations.
- Performs clerical tasks: charting medications and treatments, completing incident/accident reports, documenting Medicaid information, ordering supplies, maintaining accurate inventory of controlled drugs and equipment.
- Arranges outpatient appointments, medical exams, and prescription refills.
- Serves as a liaison within the organization, conducts/attends meetings, provides instruction, and participates in problem-solving teams.
Corrections RN Qualifications / Requirements:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Ohio, per Section 4723.03 of the Ohio Revised Code.
- Knowledge of professional nursing procedures, state/federal nursing regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Skilled in operation of medical equipment (stethoscope, otoscope, BP cuff, EKG machine).
- Ability to document and report accurately, organize information, and manage physical demands of the role.
Corrections RN Preferred Skills:
- Experience in corrections, long-term care, or similar inpatient settings.
- Ability to lead and train staff, manage inventory, and maintain compliance with regulations.
