Position Title: Nursing Program Manager
Location: Galveston, TX
Pay Rate: $60.82/hour (weekly pay)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
POSITION SUMMARY
The Nursing Program Manager is accountable for the strategic planning, operational oversight, personnel leadership, and financial management of assigned nursing programs and/or projects that span multiple departments or services. This role ensures optimal quality outcomes, cost-effective operations, regulatory compliance, and a safe, efficient care environment. The position provides leadership across clinical, operational, and administrative domains while promoting patient advocacy, ethical practice, and professional development.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assume a leadership role in strategic planning for assigned programs and/or projects
- Direct operational management to ensure high-quality, cost-effective outcomes and a safe work environment
- Manage personnel in compliance with state and federal labor laws, hospital policies, and nursing service standards
- Oversee financial management to maintain fiscal accountability while delivering optimal service outcomes
- Promote and practice patient and family advocacy and ethical clinical practice
- Foster positive guest, peer, and interdisciplinary relationships
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and support nursing research at program, department, and service levels
- Demonstrate high productivity, dependability, and accountability
- Promote teamwork and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
- Actively support the professional development of self and staff
- Identify appropriate internal controls and ensure compliance monitoring
- Perform related duties as required to support organizational goals
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) – required
- Current Texas RN license or valid permit to practice professional nursing – required
- Minimum of four (4) years of RN experience, including at least two (2) years of progressive management experience – required
- Approved specialty certification applicable to assigned program(s) or project(s) – required
- Preferred experience leading accreditation and site visits (e.g., ACR, CoC, NAPBC)
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Approved specialty certification (as applicable to assigned program or project)
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Primarily indoor clinical and office environment
- Occasional discomfort due to noise, odors, fumes, or confined workspace
- Moderate to extreme physical effort may be required, including walking, standing, performing CPR, and lifting materials, equipment, or patients
- Occasional heavy or awkward lifting over 50 lbs
- Ability to work extended shifts or standby shifts as needed to meet program objectives
- Ability to work under stress and adapt to complex or changing clinical and operational demands
- Vision, hearing, speech, and tactile abilities sufficient for accurate clinical assessment, communication, and documentation
- Minimal exposure to occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, radiation, chemotherapeutic agents, and combative or disoriented patients
