On-Call Clinical Pharmacist

Location: Hudson, WI 54016
Pay Rate: $64.27 per hour
Bonus: $1,000 bonus paid after 30 days on payroll
Type: Contract | As-Needed Scheduling

We are seeking a Licensed Pharmacist in Wisconsin for an on-call, as-needed clinical pharmacy role in Hudson, WI. This position offers a competitive hourly rate, additional on-call compensation, and a flexible but structured schedule supporting weekend coverage and after-hours pharmacy operations.

Clinical Pharmacist Compensation

  • $64.27 per hour

  • $1,000 sign-on bonus after 30 days of employment

  • $75 per diem for on-call coverage

  • $75 per dispensing call during on-call periods

Clinical Pharmacist Schedule

This is an as-needed position with rotating coverage requirements:

  • 2 scheduled weekend shifts per month (4-week rotation)

  • 3–4 on-call evenings per week

  • Weekend coverage: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

  • Weekday coverage: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

  • On-call coverage:

    • Weekdays: 6:00 PM – 10:00 AM

    • Weekends: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM

On-call responsibilities apply during pharmacy closure and after-hours periods.

Clinical Pharmacist Key Responsibilities

Clinical Pharmacy Services

  • Accept and dispense prescription medications in accordance with regulatory and clinical standards.

  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance with legal and clinical guidelines.

  • Monitor patient medication usage, adherence, and potential over-utilization patterns.

  • Ensure safe and legal supply and distribution of medications.

Patient Care & Counseling

  • Provide patient counseling on medications, including dosage, administration, side effects, and drug interactions.

  • Respond to patient questions regarding prescription and over-the-counter medications.

  • Educate patients on proper use of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.

  • Provide preventative care support services including smoking cessation counseling and basic health screenings (blood pressure, cholesterol management).

Pharmacy Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA and pharmacy regulations.

  • Ensure proper management of pharmacy files and documentation.

  • Maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.

Compounding & Technical Duties

  • Compound medications for internal and external use as required.

  • Prepare sterile solutions following established safety and procedural standards.

  • Support pharmacy workflow during on-call and scheduled operational hours.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians, clerks, and support staff as needed.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding drug-related problems and clinical concerns.

Clinical Pharmacist Required Qualifications

  • Active Wisconsin Pharmacist license in good standing

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacy degree required

  • Experience working in pharmacy environments with clinical and operational responsibilities

  • Ability to work on-call shifts, including nights and weekends

  • Strong knowledge of prescription dispensing, drug safety, and patient counseling

  • Familiarity with pharmacy laws, regulations, and compliance standards

Clinical Pharmacist Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in on-call or overnight pharmacy coverage

  • Non-sterile compounding experience preferred

  • Experience in community, hospital, or specialty pharmacy settings

  • Strong clinical judgment and patient communication skills

  • Experience supervising or supporting pharmacy staff
