PET-CT Technologist Job Description:
Under general supervision, the PET-CT Technologist performs PET imaging procedures and related functions including contrast administration, image acquisition, and collaboration with clinical teams. This position plays a vital role in patient care, safety, and data management while ensuring compliance with clinical protocols and performance standards.

Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

PET-CT Technologist Salary/Wage:
-
$42.99 – $57.92/hour (based on experience and certification level)
PET-CT Technologist Duties:
• Perform diagnostic PET imaging procedures including:
– Injection of radiopharmaceuticals and/or IV/oral contrast
– Patient prep, positioning, and image reconstruction
– Archiving, filming, and data transfer of images
• Conduct daily quality control and scanner performance monitoring
• Manage patient records, demographic accuracy, and report distribution
• Schedule procedures and support front office functions for workflow efficiency
• Collect clinical data for follow-up, teaching, and reporting
• Ensure patient safety in line with radiation and HIPAA standards
• Identify and manage contraindications and contrast reaction protocols
• Order office, medical, and imaging supplies as needed
PET-CT Technologist Required Qualifications:
Level 1:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine or Radiologic Technology (AMA-accredited)
• PET-CT certification required
• CNMT and/or ARRT(N) certification
• State licensure (if applicable)
• 3–5 years' experience in nuclear medicine and/or PET preferred
• Basic understanding of patient scheduling and billing systems
Level 2:
• Minimum 5 years of nuclear medicine experience, including 2+ years in PET
Senior Level:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum 4 years of PET imaging experience

PET-CT Technologist Physical Requirements:
• Full range of motion, dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Lift and carry items up to 50 lbs
• Push/pull patients in wheelchairs/stretchers up to 300 lbs
• Extended standing and sitting required
• Corrected vision and hearing within normal range
• Ability to reach above shoulder level
PET-CT Technologist Work Environment:
• Clinical setting with regular patient interaction
• Exposure to blood, biohazards, radiation, and toxic substances
• Must adhere to radiation safety and infection control protocols
