Patient Escort Compensation

• The pay for this position is $16.00 per hour

• Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment

• A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates

Patient Escort Highlights

• This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based on attendance, performance, and business needs

• Shift times vary; rotating weekends and some holidays required

• Must be open to working at various MD Anderson locations, not just the main campus

• Parking is at the contractor's expense

Patient Escort Responsibilities

• Escort patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or hydraulic stretcher to appointments

• Accurately complete a Disinfection Tracking Log for each patient

• Disinfect equipment prior to use following proper protocols

• Use equipment checklists when assisting patients on/off wheelchairs

• Deliver excellent, compassionate customer service to patients and caregivers

• Navigate the campus independently and efficiently

• Push up to 250 pounds via wheelchair or stretcher

Patient Escort Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

• 1 year of patient care and heavy customer service experience

• Must be able to push at least 200–250 lbs

• Must follow directions, communicate clearly, and have a professional demeanor

• Mandatory attendance for the first 90 days

• Excellent customer service and communication skills

• Compassionate, warm, and adaptable personality

Additional Information

• Dress Code:

  • Light blue polo, black scrub bottoms or black business casual pants with belt loops

  • Black belt (if applicable), black/white socks, non-skid shoes

  • No denim, leggings, joggers, artificial nails/lashes, or jackets with hoods/designs

• Must comply with clinical onboarding and infection prevention standards
