Location: Wytheville Virginia 24382 United States
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire)
Pay: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on experience
Job Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and reliable Pharmacy Admixture Technician to compound and admix medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or physician. The ideal candidate will ensure all preparations meet safety, regulatory, and departmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing sterile and non-sterile medications under supervision

Verify patient demographics, physician orders, and insurance authorizations before admixing

Calculate accurate dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary systems

Maintain and document controlled substance counts and lot numbers; dispose of expired or outdated drugs per protocol

Follow OSHA and internal safety guidelines when mixing chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy IVs; perform cleaning and maintenance of laminar flow hoods and admixture areas

Monitor and log drug temperatures and quality-assurance activities; participate in monthly inventory reviews

Receive, shelve, and manage inventory of medications and admixture supplies

Prepare labels, file documentation, and perform billing and data entry into pharmacy/admixture systems

Support lead admixture technician with supply ordering and stock control to ensure all departments are adequately supplied

Assist with routine cleaning of the pharmacy and admixture areas to maintain sanitation and minimize contamination
Qualifications:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Required: Previous pharmacy or admixture experience (sterile compounding preferred)

Preferred: Experience compounding chemotherapy admixtures and adherence to USP <797>/<800> guidelines

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow strict protocols

Basic computer literacy and data-entry proficiency
