IV Pharmacy Technician Highlights:

Location: Des Plaines, IL 60018

Schedule: 11:00 am–7:30 pm or 12:00 pm–8:30 pm, with weekend rotation once to twice per month

Pay Range: $22.00–24.00/hr
IV Pharmacy Technician Overview:
The IV Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Pursuant to specific Board of Pharmacy defined technician tasks, responsibilities may include accurately filling prescriptions, preparing sterile compounding medications, entering computer data, following standard procedures, and complying with regulatory requirements.
IV Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities:

Clean and maintain sterile compounding room and perform QA as per USP 797/state law requirements

Work under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist to fill prescriptions and prepare sterile compounding

Stage, prep, and fill orders for residents at long-term care facilities and high-risk patients

Compound sterile orders in a Class 100 clean room

Perform order entry and data entry

Assist pharmacists with facility communications
-
Maintain, clean, and account for pumps
-
Stock and organize IV department supplies
-
Replenish and maintain Emergency Drug Kits (EDK) for long-term care facilities

Follow all HIPAA and government regulations
-
Maintain safety, attendance, and dress code standards
-
Work with Lead IV Technician to ensure safe equipment calibration and work environment

Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required
IV Pharmacy Technician Qualifications:
-
High School diploma or equivalent required
-
Active state pharmacy technician license/certification required
-
Minimum of 1 year working as an IV Pharmacy Technician (long-term care preferred)

Knowledge of brand/generic medications, IVs, and prescription filling
-
Order entry and insurance billing experience required

Data entry skills, analytical ability, multitasking proficiency

Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) required

Strong organization, reliability, and attention to detail
-
Able to work during inclement weather and different shifts
-
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Physical Demands:

May sit or stand 7–10 hours per day

Occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, or walking
-
Extended hours may be required

Long-term care pharmacy open 24/7 — schedules may change as needed
