Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician – Fulfillment assists in the preparation and distribution of prescription medications in a high-volume fulfillment environment. This role is responsible for accurate prescription processing, resolving insurance and data entry exceptions, supporting pharmacists, and ensuring quality and compliance throughout the fulfillment workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Process prescription exceptions, including resolving claim rejections and conducting member or physician outreach.
- Enter and maintain accurate member demographics and prescription information in the data processing system.
- Research and resolve rejected insurance billing issues and escalated member concerns.
- Escalate prescription-related questions to a Pharmacist for interpretation or guidance.
- Assist with inbound and outbound patient and physician calls while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Use client prescription data entry procedures and guidelines for new patient registration and refill processing.
- Interpret medical abbreviations (SIG codes) and troubleshoot missing prescription information.
- Resolve all data-entry-related exceptions accurately and efficiently.
- Operate automated machinery to sort medications and move inventory through workflow stages with a strong focus on quality control.
- Count, fill, label, pack, and ship prescriptions.
- Clean and maintain machinery and ensure an orderly work area.
- Resolve Third Party Rejects by reviewing plan requirements, correcting errors, and resubmitting claims.
- Provide assistance to pharmacists on-site and at other locations.
- Communicate issues to senior staff as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Active Pharmacy Technician license (must not expire before the end of assignment).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 0–2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Current pharmacy registration and certification as required by state of operation.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Skills & Technical Requirements
- Basic PC skills (computer startup/shutdown, mouse usage, navigating programs, saving and printing files).
- Basic internet and search engine skills (browsing, entering URLs, bookmarking, filling out online forms).
- Intermediate keyboarding skills (minimum 25 WPM).
- Ability to accurately enter and review data with strong attention to detail.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, grasp, and lift with or without reasonable accommodation.
