Job Title: Pharmacy Returns Technician

Pay: $20-$22 an hr | Bi-weekly

Job Type:

  •  Onsite in Des Plaines, IL

Shift Options:

  •  Day Shift, most likely 7a-3:30p shift. 

Pharmacy Returns Technician Overview:

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned. Levels of Authority and Decision Making are indicated as follows:

    Job Summary:
    The Pharmacy Returns Technician ensures that company standards are maintained, and product integrity is preserved while processing returned prescriptions under the pharmacist's supervision.
    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Process customer returns
    • File and save daily credit reports
    • Sort based on Drug type and carefully place back in stock for re-sale (if applicable)
    • Pop, cut and/or deblister medications for destruction (if applicable)
    • Process expired medication and make inventory adjustments in computer
    • Seal containers of discarded medications and/or expired medications in preparation for haul away
    • Prepare finished prescription product and proper labeling, including cautionary and auxiliary labels, as well as other light warehouse duties
    • Package materials and products manually
    • Assist in pre-packing frequently ordered medications
    • Label and stock as needed during low volume times
    • Replenish stock and consumables
    • Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
    • Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code
    • Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required and/or expected
    • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs

Pharmacy Returns Technician Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Data Entry and/or IV experience is a plus
    Knowledge of brand name/generic medications
    Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
    Able to work at a moderate speed.
    Able to work during inclement weather.
    Reliable
    Detail-focused with analytical problem-solving skills
    Basic math skills
    Able to physically perform light lifting.
    Must be able to work various shifts and day

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    High School diploma or equivalent required
    Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations and state of practice.
    Previous pharmacy experience preferred (one or more years of long-term care experience
