Pharmacy Technician Summary and Highlights:

This is a closed-door (non-retail) pharmacy tech role filling scripts that will go to patients in rehab center.
  • This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs
  • Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment and include health, optical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance
  • A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates

Pharmacy Technician Details and Compensation:
  • Location: Portland, ME 04103 - 100% on site
  • Payrate: $20/hr
  • Required Availability: Mon-Fri 1p-11p | some weekend

Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities:
  • Assists with drug preparation and dispensing under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist and in accordance with state pharmacy regulations.
  • Performs at least one higher level pharmacy technician responsibility in addition to filling prescriptions, such as Control Room, MTS (prepack machines), inventory control (purchasing), data entry, IVs, servicing facility-based medication dispensing machines).
  • Fills prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, packaging medications for dispensing and for delivery, meeting the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy.
  • Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.
  • Participates in the periodic inventory of the pharmacy.
  • May check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves and remove out-of-date items from the inventory
  • Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding
  • Communicates with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • May process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction
  • Assists in the training of new employees.

Pharmacy Technician Requirements:
  • Verifiable High School Diploma
  • Attendance mandatory for first 90 days
  • Pharmacy Technician license in the state of ME required
  • National Certifications preferred
  • 1 year of pharmacy tech experience – long-term care setting preferred
