Pay Rate: $16.50/hour (Pharmacy Technician Trainee) | $17.50/hour (Licensed Pharmacy Technician)
Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23116
Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday | 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Assignment Dates: July 2026 – September 2026
Assignment Type: Temporary assignment with the opportunity for extension or conversion to a permanent position based on business needs and your performance in the role.
Position Overview:
The 171519 Pharmacy Technician 2 is responsible for assisting in the preparation and distribution of prescription medications while supporting pharmacy fulfillment operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and excellent customer service skills. The Pharmacy Technician will utilize pharmacy fulfillment systems to process prescriptions, resolve claim issues, and assist members and healthcare providers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and distribute prescription medications using the pharmacy fulfillment system.
- Process prescription exceptions, including resolving claim rejections and insurance issues.
- Perform member and physician outreach as needed regarding prescription processing.
- Enter member demographics and prescription information accurately into the pharmacy system.
- Research and resolve rejected insurance billing issues.
- Resolve escalated member concerns related to prescription processing.
- Escalate prescription-related clinical questions to a pharmacist for interpretation or guidance.
- Assist with inbound and outbound calls involving patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring compliance with pharmacy procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 2–4 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy Registration and Pharmacy Technician Certification as required by the state of operation.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in pharmacy fulfillment or mail-order pharmacy operations.
- Knowledge of prescription processing and insurance claim resolution.
- Customer service experience involving patients, physicians, or healthcare providers.
- Ability to troubleshoot claim rejections and billing issues.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
