Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team in a closed-door long-term care pharmacy setting. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient dispensing of medications to our long-term care facility clients. This position requires a strong commitment to patient safety, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule and Pay Rate

  • Shifts available: 8a-430p or 1130a-8p (Weekends as well)
  • $18.50 per hour! 

Responsibilities:

  1. Medication Dispensing: Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently according to prescriptions received from healthcare providers.
  2. Order Entry: Enter prescription orders into the pharmacy computer system with precision and attention to detail.
  3. Medication Packaging: Package medications appropriately for delivery to long-term care facilities, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  4. Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining pharmacy inventory by monitoring stock levels, ordering medications and supplies as needed, and rotating stock to minimize waste.
  5. Quality Assurance: Perform routine quality assurance checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of medication orders and packaging.
  6. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to long-term care facility staff and patients, addressing inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of medication dispensing and inventory management activities.
  8. Compliance: Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies and procedures, including HIPAA and medication safety protocols.
  9. Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, other pharmacy technicians, and healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care.
  10. Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance pharmacy technician skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • Current License in the state job is listed (if applicable)
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ability to obtain certification within.
  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician in a long-term care or closed-door pharmacy setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing procedures and inventory management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to perform tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to collaboration and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in using pharmacy computer systems and software applications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for medication packaging and labeling tasks.
  • Vision and hearing abilities sufficient to perform essential job functions.
