FULLY REMOTE Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization (Remote | Texas) - Outbound Call Center

 

**MUST HAVE PBM OR HEALTH PLAN PRIOR AUTHORIZATION REMOTE/CALL CENTER EXPERIENCE** **MUST RESIDE IN TEXAS**

 

Pay: $18.75 per hour

 

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday
  • 8:00 AM-4:30 PM CST
  • Fully Remote
  • Regular breaks and a 30-minute lunch
  • Schedule adherence required

 

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join a growing remote healthcare team supporting prescription refill authorization efforts. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and are comfortable spending the majority of the day making outbound calls to physician offices.

In this role, you will help ensure patients receive timely access to medications by contacting provider offices to obtain verbal authorization for prescription refill renewals after previous electronic or fax requests have gone unanswered. Your work will directly support continuity of care while maintaining compliance, professionalism, and accuracy.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Place high-volume outbound calls to physician offices regarding prescription refill authorizations.
  • Obtain verbal refill approvals in accordance with established procedures.
  • Accurately document all call outcomes and provider communications.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
  • Navigate multiple computer applications while documenting interactions in real time.
  • Meet daily productivity and quality expectations.
  • Communicate professionally with healthcare providers, office staff, and internal teams.
  • Support turnaround time goals for prescription renewal requests.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Active Pharmacy Technician license (Texas).
  • Must have PBM or health plan prior authorization remote/call center experience.
  • Strong verbal communication and professional telephone etiquette.
  • Comfortable making approximately 100 outbound calls per day.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to work across multiple systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to set up and troubleshoot home workstation equipment, VPN, and applications.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PTCB Certification preferred.
  • Previous pharmacy, healthcare, medical office, or call center experience.
  • Experience with prescription refill requests, medication renewals, or prior authorization workflows.
  • Knowledge of physician office operations and pharmacy processes.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and healthcare documentation.

 

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position in a high-volume call center environment. Successful candidates will be comfortable working independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards throughout the workday.

 

Remote workspace requirements include:

  • Dedicated private workspace with a door that closes.
  • Quiet, professional work environment free from distractions.
  • Childcare and other caregiving responsibilities arranged during scheduled work hours.
  • Hard-wired high-speed internet connection (Ethernet required; Wi-Fi is not permitted).
